2020 DB Washington Commits at Paradise Camp
South Dade 2020 safety Keshawn Washington gave a verbal pledge to the Hurricanes on Friday just an hour after his teammate and good friend Jaiden Francois committed to UM. The rising junior picked the hometown schools over early offers from Georgia, Nebraska, Rutgers, Southern Miss, Syracuse, UAB and UCF.

“Miami treats like you family and stuff. I like it,” Washington previously said. “You can come back any time. If you graduate from Miami you can come back, work hard, chill there.”

Washington is unranked by all major recruiting services at the time, but has impressed this spring on the 7-on-7 circuit after making plays last in the 8A playoffs for the Bucs while working in a hybrid linebacker role of sorts.

“He has a huge upside,” South Dade head coach Nate Hudson told InsideTheU’s Chris Stock back in May. “What we’re dealing with Keshawn is he’s being asked to sacrifice because maybe at the end of the day he may end up being a linebacker or a safety. He’s also one of those long corners too. He needs some work, but he’s a competitor. He did a great job for us last year more in the interior, but this year he’s going to be asked to play more on the outside. Keshawn is extremely long and he’s physical and aggressive. We expect big things, but right now he’s answered the bell.”
