DE | Los Angeles Rams (1994 Camp)^Only 3 DLs (of only 10 total defensive players) were considered “Consensus” All-Americans in 1993; Patrick should’ve been the 4th Consensus DL chosen that year compared with 2 other overlooked alternatives, Arizona State’s Shante Carver (Football Writers, Sporting News, NEA-2) or Notre Dame’s Bryant Young (Kodak/Coaches, Gannett News Service, AP-2). Illinois’ Dana Howard (AP, Kodak/Coaches, Football News) and UTEP’s Barron Wortham (Football Writers, Sporting News, AP-2, NEA-2) were the best alternatives for a 4th “Consensus” LB, but neither matched Patrick’s 1993 All-American credentials. 1993’s Consensus Def. Front 6 were DL Arizona’s Rob Waldrop, Ohio State’s Dan Wilkinson & Texas A&M’s Sam Adams and LBs Trev Alberts (Nebraska), Derrick Brooks (FSU) & Jamir Miller (UCLA). |

QB | ^Not to be confused with UWV WR Greg “Pete” Jones who played for the Mountaineers from 1988-90 when this Greg Jones was also on the team. Two basketball players named Greg Jones played for West Virginia (a G from 1979-83 & a JUCO transfer in 1997-98). After 112 years without any Greg Jones’s ever being on a UMV roster, star G Jones arrived in ’79. His photos are sometimes wrongly attributed to QB Jones (UWV #7). Also UWV wrestling star Greg Jones (2001-05) would go on to later try out for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Finally, while ‘Cane DB Greg Jones (#27) lettered at UM from ’82-84, QB Jones never lettered at the U. |
