Breaking: ’20 DT Moise Commits to Miami
Willie Moise

The Hurricanes have picked up a pledge from a local lineman with plenty of upside.
Andrew Ivins – Mar 1, 2018

InsideTheU and 247Sports has confirmed that Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna defensive tackle Willie Moise has given a verbal pledge to the Hurricanes.

“Miami has always been home,” Moise said. “I grew up a Miami fan and I figured why not stay home.”

Moise, who is unranked by all major recruiting services at the time, went both ways this past season for a Lions team that captured a 3A state title.

The sophomore wasn’t able to call UM’s coaches to tell them that he was committing given NCAA rules, but said that his father spoke with both Mark Richt and Manny Diaz.

“They were excited. I mean I loved Miami it’s a great school that’s on the rise and I want to be a part of it.”

Moise’s dad also talked with Jess Simpson. The former Atlanta Falcons assistant coach is expected to be introduced as Miami’s new defensive line coach in the coming days.

“I don’t know too much about him, but I’m excited to meet him.”

That will likely happened on Saturday as Moise said that both him and his father are set to visit Coral Gables for the men’s basketball game against Virginia Tech.

Miami now holds commitments from a pair of prospects at Chaminade-Madonna in Moise and 2018 three-star defensive lineman Cameron Williams. The coaches are also targeting guys like Tennessee cornerback commit Te’Cory Couch and Kentucky safety commit Keontra Smith.

“Anybody wants to be part of The U family … I’m pushing for them to do that.”

Mosie (6-2.5, 276) also holds early offers from LSU, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Pittsburgh and Kentucky.

The Hurricanes currently hold the nation’s No. 1 ranked 2020 recruiting class per the 247Sports Composite. The group includes prospects like five-star wide receiver Leonard Manuel, five-star safety Avantae Williams and Top100 defensive end Samuel Anaele.
