Initially, Miami planned to sign 10 to 12 recruits, looking for one or two players at each position. Heading into the weekend, UM had 11 oral commitments.

To nobody's surprise, quarterback was a top priority, and it appears the Hurricanes landed two good ones in Ryan Clement from Denver and Scott Covington from Dana Hills, California.

Both Clement and Covington were among the nine quarterbacks on the SuperPrep Top 100 national list. Clement and Covington are two of the five SuperPrep All-Americans who have committed to the 'Canes. The others are defensive back Nate Brooks from North Miami, wide receiver Omar Rolle from Miami Norland and defensive lineman Cameropn Binion from Orchard Park, Mich.

The Hurricanes also received a second commitment from linebacker Jefferey Taylor, who originally signed with the Hurricanes last year out of Miami Northwestern. Taylor did not qualify academically and spent last year at Hargraves Military Academy in Virginia.
